Youth of Hope

Details are starting to come in regarding the ELCA Youth Gathering in Minneapolis July 24-28, 2022!  As I write this, there is a meeting that I will be attending on June 16 to gather more information.  Look for more details next month!

Minneota Area Mission Trip

We are 5 days away from leaving on our trip, and I truly believe that God has been with us during our planning process, and he has granted us this incredible opportunity to show his love through service to our neighbors.  For it is written in Philippians 4:6: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God".  This year's mission trip is taking on a bit of a different format, but I truly believe it will be an experience that will enlighten our students and give them an opportunity to witness first-hand how service to others can be gratifying and fulfilling.  Our spiritual program will consist of contemporary Christian music, scripture, reflection and prayer.  Each day has a theme, which include Love, Trust,  Faith and Hope.  It is during our journey that we pray that our students will learn and feel God's unconditional love, that they will strengthen their trust in God and in one another, that they will learn how their faith can see them through all situations, and that they will leave with a sense of hope that God has a plan for each of us.  If you'd like to follow along with the program, please visit our Facebook page (Minneota Area Mission).  I will be posting the videos and scriptures daily, along with pictures and recaps of our day's activities.

Thank you for your incredible support of our youth. We have 12 Hope Lutheran students attending (25   total) , 4 adults (8 total) and Pastor Allen.  We ask for your prayers during our week and we look forward to sharing our experience with you!

Our last night of GLOW was May 5th where we had a small carnival with prizes, activities, and a ton of fun for the kids!  We were able to have all ages involved, as Confirmation students and Teen Power helped with the games and The Minneota Area Mission Trip students helped with serving food.  Students had their faces painted, played games, won prizes, and had plenty of good fellowship.  A special thanks to St. Edwards Catholic Church, Minneota School ECFE, and Minneota PTA for the use of the carnival games.

As much as we are sad that the GLOW year has ended, we are excited to start planning for this fall.  We’re hoping to return to the classrooms, so we are looking for classroom leaders.  If you are interested, please contact Jess or Erin.  We have a new curriculum that we purchased last year, and it has fun group activities as well as individual classroom focus.  We are also in search of a music coordinator for Wednesday evenings. Our hope is to have our GLOW students singing in church one Sunday each month!  If you are interested in, or know of someone that would be interested, please contact us!

Brenda Swoboda has decided to hang up her hat as our GLOW food coordinator this year. We are grateful for all the time she has put into the GLOW program!  We will definitely miss her!  Sally Campbell has stepped up to help with next year, along with numerous other volunteers.  We are thankful we can continue to serve food.  Thank you Brenda and Sally!

We want to give a special thank you to individuals that helped with this challenging year; Pastor Allan (bible message/song leader), Scott and Roberta Josephson (audio set up/take down), Sally Campbell (kitchen help), Brenda Swoboda (food coordinator), Ascheman Family (family activity), Opdahl Family (family activity), Lizzy Davis (family activity), Jessica Moriarty (family activity), Linda Nuytten (kitchen help), Keven Larson (5th and 6th grade Leader) , Terri Myhre (kitchen help & go-to person for questions), Education Council Members and most of all, the families that were able to attend either virtually or in person. We could not do this without all of you!

In Christ, Jess and Erin
